Hi, I'm Emily Apell!

Career Coach | Speaker | Writer

You’re working harder than ever, but the respect, balance, and leadership role you deserve still feel out of reach. I’ve been there, and I know how exhausting it is.

After 18 years in healthcare, I hit a wall. I put in long hours day after day, year after year, and yes - I achieved every goal I set for myself. I didn't have the respect I deserved for the time I put in, the patience I had when things were stressful, and all the moments I had to miss with family to make sure "my career" was most important. I missed birthdays, dinners, and the little moments that matter most, all because I thought saying ‘yes’ to everything was the only way to succeed. In the end it didn't truly get me ahead by saying yes to everything and working long hours day after day.

Burnout wasn't just a 'buzz word' - it was my reality. I knew I needed a change, but pivoting to the construction industry felt like starting over. I didn't know anything about construction; I was in healthcare. How would I even make this work? How could I become a leader in a company I knew nothing about?

Well, step by step I built a new career that grew into leadership and fell into alignment with my purpose. You see it wasn't about knowing the construction industry, I could learn that as I go. It was the skills I already had that transferred with me, allowing me to be a leader already. I realized leadership isn’t about knowing every detail—it’s about empowering others to succeed. That shift changed everything. I found my voice, my confidence, and my passion for success. No, not the success of my career - the success of my team. You see if my team doesn't succeed then that means I am not doing my job. So, building a team that can run without me there was vital. That is true success.

Now I help mid-level professionals in the healthcare and construction industries without the overwhelm or the burnout.

My journey has allowed me to share my story and knowledge in an international magazine - Expert Profile Magazine. That same journey has also been celebrated during Women In Construction Week.
